What was the highlight of Hotel Real Monasterio de San Zoilo
Super historical experience.
The experience was excellent, a large 'standard' room with a comfy warm bed, and it was very interesting to walk around the building inside and out. Generally, the staff were very polite and helpful except for a bit of a grumpy man behind the bar in the evening - nothing major. The evening meal was great and the lady serving us was excellent at her job and made us feel really welcome. the food was very good too. The Hotel was easy to find and close to a major road to continue up to Gijon. If you are heading to Santander and have some spare time I recommend you stay here and then take the circuitous route up to Gijon and across to Santander you will not be disappointed a fantastically beautiful drive.
Nothing that I can speak of - perhaps a kettle in the room would have been appreciated.

Great except for the desk attendant who couldn’t smile
How they repurposed the monetary for accommodations Background music on entering premises
Walking in with a backpack met with less than acceptable meeting with staff member who appeared to hate his job and me, a disshelved backpacker doing the Camino. Higher end hotel in this area but I had reservations. My Spanish was not good as I tried to communicate but this fellow was not helpful at all. Stuck up The remainder of staff were wonderful
